Ricoh
Reviews and Complaints
Poor customer service
Ricoh informs customers that they will charge $202 per hour, with a one hour minimum for a service call. We've used them twice, on top of the $202 charge they add on $24.95 for 'materials and handling', the tech said they ALWAYS add that.
They don't tell you that. I received a sales call from Daisy with Ricoh who asked how our machine was performing. I said fine and asked that she pass on that I wasn't happy with their charges and she HUNG UP.
Rude on top of poor customer service. The tech was fine and pleasant though.
User's recommendation: Be aware they're not pleasant to deal with
Rico printer problem
Ricoh printer problem. No work in few days
Never go with Ricoh
We had a contract with them and thank goodness we do not any more!!! They messed up our billing and we had to spend over 2 years trying to get our money back.
They never did fully refund us. Very poorly run. No communication with employees within the company. Got a runaround from them constantly.
Most of the employees we originally worked with were gone by the time we finally received some of our money back. Employees don't even like working for this company!
User's recommendation: Go with anyone but Ricoh!!!!!
Avoid any contracts with Ricoh copier suppliers
I have recently purchased a company and as I am reviewing some of the contracts that were in place prior to the purchase, I find one for a Ricoh copier. Between the monthly commitment for the copier and the additional fees for copies, this is running the company over $4000 a year for a glorified receipt generator.
What's worse is the machine does not work as it is described and the local Ricoh representative cannot make it work properly. We have called their certified technicians and all they tell us is that it they cannot get it to work. We have discussed this with the sales team and they just give us the run around. When we have tried to discuss options with them, their solution is for us to buy out the contract...
another $5800 and then they will get us another one of their products. If this isn't a scam, I don't know what is but I would definitely not do business with a company that has no motivation to fulfill it's contractual obligations.
When the only answer they can provide is to say that they cannot fix the problem.. then this is not a trustworthy company to do business with.

Do Not Use Ricoh
Do not use Ricoh for your copy machine needs. Our company did, and now have numerous regrets based on the level of customer service provided.
Our company elected to lease a Ricoh machine a few years back.
In addition to leasing the machine, we paid for a service contract to ensure there would be no issues if the machine had troubles.
Truly, we rarely had issues with the machine while we had it. Our company utilized relatively few copies, thus, less wear and tear on the machine, but also, a good reason to consider other less expensive alternatives. This is where the customer service NIGHTMARE begins.
Ricoh, has all of their contractual paperwork set up to ensure that they are going to provide zero customer assistance and generally endless reasons why you should just lease another machine from them and not get rid of their service.
Good luck if you are going to cancel the service per the lease documents. Janine Williams specifically is the WORST customer service personnel I have ever dealt with.
She works for "leasing connection". Janine has felt it necessary to be short, and unhelpful in all of her correspondence.
Beyond her really very unhelpful information and attitude, we are required to pay an additional 400+ dollars plus crate and freight to ship this machine to another company not already mentioned to allow for our contract to truly be considered terminated.
All in all, my recommendation is that you do not work with Ricoh. Find another company who will help you when it is necessary, even at the end of the contract after they no longer need to.
- Machine and service department is good

Incentive driven sales and passive aggressive customer service
We have just cancelled our contract with Ricoh after years of faulty printers, extremely rude technicians and overpriced ongoing fees.
Our Account manager, Alan Lear (looking after the South East in the UK), has tried to rip us off, then when called out on it, turned to passive aggression and sarcastic comments. It proved to us that despite being a long term customer (10+ years), Ricoh are completely dishonest and untrustworthy.
When we made the decision to terminate the agreement, Alan's response was 'You're buying old technology, good luck with that'. He really ought not to take things so personally.
We've paid a lot of money over the years to ultimately be taken for a ride. Saying that, when we told them we were off they quickly produced a miracle offer of a newer machine for HALF the price of the original quote? The mark-up speaks for itself.
This industry is completely unregulated and full of cowboys like Alan.
He tried to push us into a hard sell, calling numerous times mere hours after sending the quote.
Really unimpressed - the irony of him telling us they are 'Customer Service Excellence' accredited. Actions speak louder than words springs to mind?
- Customer service
- Aggressive staff
- Terrible printing quality

The Worst Company known to mankind!
I have been through heck and back with this company and we are still going through it. The level of incompetence is jaw-dropping!
NEVER use this company for your business or home! THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE form any vendor!
- I fired you
Preferred solution: HAVE A DARN MANAGER EMAIL ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOR THE 100th REQUEST!!!!!!
Ricoh will not warranty their genuine consumables unless purchased direct
Ricoh sells their small home office printers to numerous online and physical retailers, which they consider "not authorized retailers". As a matter of fact customer service told me that they don't sell through retail channels at all.
So evidently walmart, amazon & b&h photo are all part of a black market for genuine,(not refill) toner cartridges.
Long story short, if you purchase a printer from a retailer and subsequently purchase genuine toner cartridges from the same retailer, Ricoh will not guarantee any manufacturer defects on those cartridges. Better hope which ever retailer you use has a robust return policy that extends past 30 days.
WORST DECISION EVER
Had Ricoh for a few years, and they sold a machine that does not work. After conning us into renewing the lease which was the worst decision made, they have conned us again.
The machine doesn't work but they do not care. They bill bill bill and then request $4000 for buy out.
I will not pay this. They can pick up this stupid machine - They are cons
- Everything customer service or help related
- Costomer support
Preferred solution: Full refund
Worst Customer Experience Ever!
I had been calling to Ricoh for my printer problem at least 4 times. The representatives basically treat you like a dumb and talking to you out of respect.
I end up had to hang up on them few times. I swear that I will never buy Ricoh products in the future.
Preferred solution: Please re-train the staffs on their communicating skill and attitude
The Worst Billing Department Ever!!!
We have a Ricoh 7110 and have had ongoing billing issues. We pay a base charge that covers 75000 impressions monthly but Ricoh has pulled the meter read at the wrong time over and over which means we pay for impressions that don't get used. I have been fighting them for almost a year now to get our bill corrected and have even pulled the read from the machine's print server and they still can't get our bills correct.
- Machine and service department is good
- Billing is the worst of any in my 20 years in printing
Preferred solution: Fix the bill
Very very poor- Extremely rude customer service
We have a Ricoh color and b/w copiers and have had ongoing billing issues. We pay a base charge that covers Ricoh lease monthly but Ricoh has pulled the meter read at the wrong time over and over which means we pay for impressions that don't get used.
It is really frustrating to talk to them as the customer representatives and the team lead are very very rude. The customer team lead even hung up phone on you instead of working with you.
They charge you over and then they refund it to you later only if they decide that you are overcharged. Their technical support and customer support is the poorest in the nation.
Worst cutomer service ever
There wss no email to let me know i was locked out from my account. Then I finally got through the phone line after circling around several times for 40 minutes to the same person who couldn't help me that I needed a letterhead associated with my email because it was a public email.
I could not find out how to do this or where to send it. They said it was for security and if I didn't have a letterhead I could make one. How is that security went anyone can just make one? Tried to use the chat line to get in but they only gave me choices to choose and none of them fit my problem so they more or less hung up on me.
Tried to call again and another phone number and it said that it wasn't available for my area. I live in the United States how am I out of area?
Continues unresolved hardware and software issues
Ricoh can sure over marketing there equipment but when it comes to actual performance its a 4 out 10 rating. Critical issues go unresolved for months on end and concern for actual customer satisfaction doesn't exist. All their high end production devices fail to meet any of the high end production requirements that those of there competitors can meet.

Can only agree. The most dysfunctional "organisation" I've ever had the misfortune to deal with.
Individually the staff try, but the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing.
There is no product delivery support and it is impossible to organise the myriad of Ricoh teams and third party organisations they sub-contract to. Avoid Ricoh at all cost.
